3 Supplements That Work wonders for PCOS

Before you start any supplement routine, you MUST identify the root cause (or causes) of your hormonal imbalance. This applies to PCOS, thyroid imbalances, adrenal dysfunction etc…

I want to shed light on why NAC, Magnesium and Vitamin D can be helpful for some women with PCOS.

1 𝐍𝐀𝐂- This is an amino acid. It is a precursor to glutathione (which is a very potent antioxidant in the body.. our body likes antioxidants because it helps with detoxification). When it comes to hormones and PCOS, NAC is awesome in promoting ovulation and improving egg quality. It is also great for supporting healthy blood glucose levels – studies have found that NAC is able to outperform meds like Metformin and can improve blood sugar, insulin and LDL in 24 weeks!

2 𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐔𝐌- A deficiency in magnesium is very common in women with PCOS. If you’re on the BC pill, a deficiency is even more likely! This is a mineral that is helpful in improving insulin resistance, inflammation and blood sugar. It is also important in improving mood and sleep. PS: My favourite form of magnesium is Magnesium Bisglycinate.

3 𝐕𝐈𝐓𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐍 𝐃- this vitamin is great for reproductive health. Studies have shown us a clear pattern that those with PCOS tend to have a low vitamin D status. Did you know that a deficiency is linked to obesity, insulin resistance, hyperandrogenism, dyslipidemia, inflammation and depression?

PRO TIP: You CANNOT out-supplement a poor diet. Diet, sleep and stress management are all so foundational when it comes to reversing your PCOS symptoms.
